The ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Kolkata has organized a 15-day Skill Development Programme on “Making of Fibre-based Decorative Items” from 7th December to 24th December, 2021.
Shri Dibyendu Sarkar, I.A.S., Former Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, Self-Help Groups and Self Employment & Current Advisor to Government of West Bengal in Environment Sector graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Inaugurating the programme, Shri Sarkar emphasized for continuation and utilization of the skill learning in the form of Entrepreneurship Development. He also encouraged the trainees to be pro-active in building skills in the respective areas and well-informed about the Government Schemes & innovative marketing channels for better income generation.
Shri Sudipto Porel, Joint Secretary, Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal urged the trainees for focusing on the learning and helping each other in forming the Self-Help Groups for taking loan at the minimum interest rates and making effective gain from the different Government Schemes.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, Kolkata underlined the new technologies developed by the Institute for productivity, quality and value-addition in Jute & Allied Fibre Crops. He also accentuated on the crops’ immense potential in ecosystem services, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical values.
More than 35 Trainees from the different Blocks of Nadia and North 24 Parganas, West Bengal are participating in the programme.
