A Farmers’ Fair and Farm Innovation Day was organized by Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI) at Jodhpur 24 September 2014. While inaugurating the function Shri BS Rathore, Member of Legislative Assembly (Shergadh), Rajasthan appealed the farmers to maintain continuous liaison with this institute for reaping benefits through adoption of improved technologies.
Professor OP Gill, Vice–Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur and Guest of Honour on this occasion urged farmers to diversify the existing traditional agriculture and derive sustainable higher income per unit of area.
Dr MM Roy, Director CAZRI, Jodhpur in his presidential address highlighted the need for faster dissemination of improved technologies and practices on a wider scale in this region.
An exhibition, participated by various ICAR research institutes, state line departments and other agencies in this region and an interaction session between scientists and farmers was organized. Twelve innovative farmers were honoured for their outstanding contributions and a few CAZRI publications of farmers’ interest were released.
Earlier, Dr PC Pandey, Head of Division welcomed the guests and the participants and Dr BK Mathur, Principal Scientist highlighted the KVK, Jodhpur activities.
Over 1900 farmers, including a large number of women, from arid regions of the country; especially Western Rajasthan participated in this event.
Dr Raj Singh, Principal Scientist and convener of this event proposed the vote of thanks.
