Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture visited Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur on 15th October 2014. He was accompanied by Shri Gajendra Singh Sekhawat, Member of Parliament, Jodhpur and Shri P.P. Choudhary, Member of Parliament, Pali. Dignitaries observed and took keen interest in modern facilities of the Institute and field areas.
The Minister laid Foundation Stone of CAZRI Sports Complex and released Hindi and English publications of the Institute on this occasion.
The Minister hold an interactive session in which Directors of ICAR institutes in Rajasthan; Directors of Agriculture University, Jodhpur; Project Coordinators of AICRPs/AINPs and government officials at Jodhpur; Programme Coordinators of KVKs at Jodhpur and Bhuj; the scientists and staff at CAZRI and farmers participated. During his address, the Minister appreciated the efforts of CAZRI for arid regions of the country and stressed the need for more emphasis on marketing of products developed at this Institute. He advised the farmers to adopt improved cultivars and agro-techniques developed by ICAR institutes and SAUs in this region. The Members of Parliament stressed upon wider dissemination of technologies for improving livelihood of the farmers of this region.
Earlier, Dr. M.M. Roy, Director, CAZRI welcomed the Minister and dignitaries and made a brief presentation on the inception, research and extension accomplishments of the Institute along with future strategies.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. R.K. Bhatt, Head of Division, CAZRI and Dr. R.K. Kaul, Principal Scientist, CAZRI proposed vote of thanks.
