ICAR Institutes Participated in the ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’

On the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and subsequent action plan issued by ICAR Headquarter, the ICAR institutes located in different parts of the country organized ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan’ on the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’, the 2nd October, 2014. However, ‘Cleanliness Week’ was observed in some of the institutes from 25th Sep to 2nd October, 2014. Employees were administered ‘Swachchta Shapath’ by the heads of the Institutes.

ICAR-Central Institute of Rice Research ,Cuttack: ‘Swachchta Samaroh’ was organized in the premises of the Institute and after offering floral tribute to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi the Director of the institute administered the ‘Swachhta Shapath ’to the staff.  

ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi: Under the leadership of Director, all the employees of the institute participated in the cleanliness drive covering the institute premises and surrounding areas.

ICAR-NIANP, Bangalore: The Director explained the essence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call for ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’ to the scientists and staff of the Institute. He also administered the pledge to the employees and students.

ICAR-National Camel Research Centre, Bikaner: The Centre organized the ‘Cleanliness Week’ from 25th September to 2nd October, 2014 and it was initiated with the cleanliness drive undertaken under the leadership of the Director.

ICAR-RC-NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal: After taking the ‘Swachchta Oath’, all the employees cleaned the raods, corridors, garden and other places in the premises of the centre and surroundings.The programme was also organized in all the five ICAR KVKs under ICAR–RC Manipur center;Imphal west,Chandel,Chaurachandpur,Tamenglong and Ukhrul.

ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar: Employees of the Institute took ‘Swachchta Shapath ’administered by the Director of Institute.

ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar: Director of the Institute urged the gathering to devote two hours per week to cleanse the institute, leading to 100 hours in one year. The function was attended by more than 500 employees, contractual workers and students of ICAR-CIFA and KVKs.

ICAR-NRC on Seed Spices, Ajmer: Director of the Centre in his speech informed the gathering about the Council’s initiatives regarding ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’. The staff took the oath and decided to start the cleanliness drive in surrounding villages.

ICAR-Central Institute of Sheep and Wool Research, Avikanagar: The ‘Swachchta Shapath’ was administered in the institute and Director, in his address, stressed the need to adopt cleanliness in real terms.
