Virtual Workshop on “Fodder Resource Development Plan for Tamil Nadu State” organized

The ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu organised the Virtual Workshop to discuss the Prepared Draft Fodder Resource Development Plan with all the officials of Tamil Nadu Line Department, Government of Tamil Nadu today.

Delivering the inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) A.S. Krishnamoorthy, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Tamil Nadu underlined the necessity of food for human beings, feed for animals and bio-manure for the soils for sustaining life on the planet.

In his address, the Special Guest, Dr. K.N. Selvakumar, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai highlighted the increase in the demand of fodder throughout the state due to the growth of livestock population over the years in the state.

Dr. Amaresh Chandra, Director, ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi, Uuttar Pradesh apprised the participants about the fodder technologies. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring the supply of feed and fodder to the livestock of the state for achieving the vision of doubling the farmers’ income by transforming the livestock rearing to rural livelihood.

The Workshop registered participation by 65 participants.
