The ICAR- Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture organized a workshop on ‘Indian Agricultural Research Journals and The Essential Electronics Agricultural Library’ (TEEAL) here today.
Dr Alok Kumar Sikka, DDG (Natural Resource Management) chaired the workshop and said that the Indian Agricultural Research Journals portal is the result of the E Publishing and Knowledge System in Agricultural Research (E-PKSAR), a project from NAIP, and is using a highly scalable, state- of –the- art ICT infrastructure.
Dr Rameshwar Singh, Project Director (DKMA), while describing the impact of the E-PKSAR informed that the system has been able to save millions of A4 size papers as well as postage due to paperless processing of thousands of research articles being received in different research journals. Efficient and reliable record keeping, automation of routine tasks etc. are the other useful features
Dr Joy Paulson, Project Director (TEEAL, International Projects Librarian, Cornell University) said that the journals in TEEAL are generously provided by major publishers, which have been selected for their quality and relevance.
Dr J.S. Sandhu, DDG (Crop Science) also appreciated the efforts of the DKMA which has enhanced visibility and circulation of Indian Agricultural Research Knowledge.
Dr Aruna T. Kumar, In charge, (EEU, DKMA) informed that nearly 5 million page views were recorded from the ICAR journals web site between 2011 and 30 April 2015 from 215 countries, and the DKMA provided 24×7 connectivity.
