DG, ICAR laid the Foundation Stone of Regional Station Building of ICAR- Indian Institute of Seed Science, Mau

Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR laid the Foundation Stone of Administrative-cum-Laboratory Block of Regional Station of ICAR- Indian Institute of Seed Science, Mau at GKVK Campus, UAS, Bengaluru today

In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohapatra pointed that there is a very effective and robust seed system for production and quality assurance including the breeder seed in the country. He further highlighted importance and defined the role of Regional Station in ensuring the availability of quality planting material and seed, in general, and for southern states, in specific. He opined that the regional station should focus on seed technological research for regional needs and function as a hub for capacity building in quality seed production and research for various stakeholders.

Dr. H. Shivanna, Vice Chancellor, UAS, Bengaluru, Dr. J.K. Jena, DDG (Fisheries Science) and Dr. J.S. Chauhan, ADG (Seed), ICAR,  Dr. Dinesh K. Agarwal, Director (Acting), ICAR-IISS, Mau; Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Former Director, ICAR-IISS, Mau were graced the occasion.

Directors of ICAR institutes based in Bengaluru, University & CPWD officials, farmers and students. attended the ceremony

The dignitaries also planted the saplings at this occasion.
