Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences visited the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura under Central Agricultural University on 22nd September, 2015. During his visit, he inaugurated a series of facilities like Wet Laboratory and Intensive Experimental Farm Facilities set up under the Centre of Excellence on Fisheries and Aquaculture Biotechnology. He also inaugurated the exhibition pavilion showcasing various outreach accomplishments under DST and DBT funded projects. He released publications of the College.
While addressing the assembly of students, farmers, scholars, faculty, representative of various line departments and academic as well as research institutes of the state, he appreciated the academic performance of the students of College of Fisheries in recent past. He advised the students to be proactive and try to contribute towards nation building in a worthy manner through out of the box innovative thinking under the current scenario.
He congratulated the outreach initiative of the college on Village Adoption and Mera Gaon Mera Gourav programme. Fish seed and aquafeed were distributed among 23 adopted farmers under the programme.
Mr. Dilip Das, Zilla Sabhadhipati, Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, Prof. R. K. Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Shri S. Kumar, Secretary (S&T), Govt. of Tripura and Dr. T. Madan Mohan, Adviser, DBT graced the occasion.
