Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR visited ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubneshwar today. He, in his address laid stress on transfer of promising aquaculture technologies through Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khordha and also to publish scientific communications in journals of high international impact. Trait improvement in cultured species through genetics and biotechnology is essential to enhance productivity, he added.
Earlier, Dr P Jayasankar, Director, ICAR-CIFA explained the activities and future plan of the institute. He informed about the availability of 20 promising aquaculture technologies, Tribal Sub Plan program success story, North Eastern Hill region program, Swacch Bharath Abhiyan, Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav and finally strategy of the Institute for achieving Blue Revolution II.
Dr A K Singh, DDG (Ag. Extension); Dr Anupam Mishra, Director, ATARI; Dr A K Nayak, Director (Acting), NRRI; Dr J Khishtwaria, Director,ICAR-CIWA and Dr Archana Mukherjee, Head, RRC, ICAR-CTCRI, Bhubaneswar were also present on the occasion and made remarks.
