The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar organized a National Webinar on “Crop Diversification: A way towards Nutritional Security today.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh emphasized on designing the productive and environmentally sustainable production systems based on the available natural resources and agro-climatic conditions to enhance the income and food & nutritional security in the changing climatic scenario. The importance of pulses, oilseed and nutri-cereals in crop diversification was also highlighted by Dr. Mishra.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna briefed about the importance of crop diversification and its effective strategy for achieving the objectives of food and nutrition security, income growth, poverty alleviation and employment generation, etc.

The Webinar organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence was aimed at creating the awareness, sensitizing and updating the knowledge of the Researchers, Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Extension Workers, Students and other Stakeholders.

A total of 190 participants participated in the Webinar.
