One-day Farmer Field School on "Vermi-composting techniques for promoting entrepreneurship" was organised today at village Jhabrani Raipur Block Thano under the Farmer FIRST project by ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun.

Dr. Bankey Bihari, Principal Investigator, Farmer FIRST project encouraged the farmers to take agricultural activities to the next level to make it more business-oriented with profits and quality supply of agriculture products. He spoke on the success stories of the interventions introduced at the villages under the Framers First project of the ICAR.

Shri. Subash Kothari, a progressive farmer, explained the process of vermicomposting, including inputs, cow dung, composting beds, preparation, maintenance, harvesting, and earthworm collection and shared his journey from one pit to maintaining six mobile units. His business has grown and demand for compost has increased.

Shri. Rajpal Solanki, veteran farmer, urged participants to adopt large-scale vermi-composting, citing its benefits in enhancing production, quality, taste, and nutritional value. He highlighted its positive impact on the soil-plant-animal system, making it more sustainable.

A total of 28 progressive farmers participated and deliberated in the program.
