ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-X, Hyderabad, organised one-day workshop on “Gender Dynamics of Seed Systems in Telangana” jointly with ICAR National Institute of Agricultural Economics & Policy Research today.
The objective of the workshop was to understand gender participation in the seed production of rice, maize and redgram, R&D in the seed sector, seed value chains, the role of the private sector in seed systems and farmers’ collectives in the seed systems of Telangana.
Director, ICAR-ATARI in his remarks elucidate the importance and role of women's participation in agriculture in general and seed production in particular. Participants expressed their views on gender roles in the seed systems of Telangana.
Delegates from ICAR-NIAP elucidate the purpose and objectives of the workshop.
The workshop was attended by delegates from the farming community, seed companies, extension agencies (ATARI, KVKs), state seed corporations, researchers, NGOs etc.
