One Nation, One Subscription: PM-ONOS Boosts Agricultural Education & Research

23rd January 2025, New Delhi

The PM-One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative by the Government of India provides universal access to high-quality academic resources for educational and research institutions. Through a centralized platform, registered students, researchers, and faculty can access a wide range of scholarly journals. Initially targeting government institutions, including universities and research organizations, ONOS aims to bridge knowledge gaps, promote equitable access, and foster innovation by removing financial and logistical barriers, enhancing the quality of education and research in India.

The Agricultural Education Division of ICAR organised a virtual meeting to address issues related to the 'One Nation One Subscription' (ONOS) initiative today. The meeting brought together nodal officers, librarians, and other key stakeholders from Agricultural Universities and ICAR institutes across the country, fostering meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing.

Dr R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR emphasized the importance of ONOS in providing universal access to academic resources, thereby enhancing research and education in agricultural sciences. He also highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative in bridging knowledge gaps and promoting equitable access to scholarly journals.

Dr Bimlesh Maan, Assistant Director General (EPHS), ICAR, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ONOS initiative, addressing challenges faced by Agricultural Universities and ICAR institutes. She provided practical solutions for registering on the ONOS platform, applying for AISHE codes, and accessing journals, which were highly appreciated by participants.

Nodal officers were advised to apply for AISHE codes on the All India Survey of Higher Education Portal, essential for ONOS registration. Institutions were also urged to ensure de-duplicated inclusion for registration and avoid authenticating private HEI/R&D institute IP addresses with publishers.
