Orientation Workshop on “Chemical Free Natural Farming in the Present Context: Challenges and Opportunities”

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur organized Orientation Workshop of KVKs on “Chemical free natural farming in the present context: Challenges and opportunities,” at Deendayal Research Institute, Chitrakoot, Satna, Madhya Pradesh during October 09-11, 2022.

Chief Guest, Shri Kamal Patel, Minister of Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development of Madhya Pradesh said that it is our priority to do natural farming and promote it, because doing natural farming will reduce the cost of farming and improve the soil healthy in long run. Farmers will get incentive from Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.

Hon’ble Governor of Gujrat, Acharya Devvrat, in his Presidential address suggested to make the activities easy and accessible in the interest of farmers according to the crops being grown in their respective areas with natural farming through available materials of farmers say Beejamrit, Jivamrit, Ghanjivamrit, Neemastra, Bramhastra, Agniastra.

Guest of Honour, Dr. V. P. Chahal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR said that Natural Farming is very much helpful in providing the sustainability of agriculture to the farmers and good health to the producers and consumers of its produce.

Director, ATARI, Zone IX, Jabalpur, Dr. S. R. K. Singh, expressed Natural Farming is the system in which there will be an increased sustainability in farming and there is a reduction in the cost of cultivation, the harmful effects of chemical farming soil health and on our health are also minimised by natural farming. In coming time more number of farmers will be trained on natural farming and they should be encouraged to practice natural farming in all crops.

Natural Farming expert, Shri Hari Om, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Kurukeshtra, presented “Impact and potential on Natural Farming” on the basis of natural farming trials. He shown that all the necessary nutrients are supplied to the plants, as well as the number of micro-organisms present in the soil increases and ecological balance is also maintained at within limited time-period.

DES, JNKVV, Jabalpur, DES, RVSKVV, Gwalior and selected KVKs presented their activities on Natural Farming which was reviewed and suggested for proper dissemination and adaptation by the farmers.

An exhibition was also organized during Gramodaya Mela from 9 to 12 October 2022, in which exhibition was also organized by 50 Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated. KVKs displayed informative posters on natural farming and value added products from progressive farmers and KVKs were displayed in exhibition stall.

The Workshop was attended by more than 150 participants including KVK Scientists, Progressive farmers, Officials and delegates an exhibition of KVKs was also organized on this occasion.
