Padma Shri, Shri Batakrushna Sahu - A role model for other fellow farmers in practicing scientific fish farming was felicitated by the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha today. In his address, Shri Sahu shared his 40 years of association with fisheries and the Institute. He reminisced how in the initial years, the KVK’s and Institute’s Scientists visited his farm and guided him in breeding and other activities.
Dr. B.P. Mohanty, ADG (Inland Fisheries), ICAR applauded Shri Sahu for the rare accomplishment and for his long standing association with the ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Dr. S.K. Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha urged the fish farmers to follow the advanced practices for sustainable fisheries. He underlined the utility of Aquaculture Field School and encouraged the fish farmers to draw advantage from it by learning and sharing knowledge with fellow farmers.
The Institute also organized a Field Day on Aquaculture at the Aquaculture Field School, Sarakana during the occasion.
The event registered a total participation by around 80 fish farmers.
