ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora, concluded the Rural Agricultural Work Experience programme for 31 students from the DSB Campus, Kumaon University, Nainital, today. The programme was inaugurated on 20th November 2023.
Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, emphasised the significance of RAWE in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, nurturing a new generation of agriculturists and agri-professionals. He urged the students to continue their pursuit of excellence in agriculture, promoting effective time management, setting high targets, and diligent effort.
The programme achieved a significant milestone in providing practical agricultural education to B.Sc. (Agriculture) students in the 7th semester. The initiative aimed to educate young people about the realities of hill agriculture, research, and extension activities.
The programme also aimed at providing students with hands-on experience in hill agricultural practices, understanding rural systems, and contributing to sustainable development. Students learned about crop cultivation, vegetable production, soil management, crop protection, secondary agriculture, agri-preneurship, rural development, and technology transfer, working closely with hill farmers and researchers.
A total of 31 students from Kumaon University, attended the comprehensive three-month training programme.
