The three-day “Regional Agriculture Fair for Eastern Region” organized by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, District Samastipur, Bihar in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India from 12th to 14th March, 2022 concluded today
The Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR urged to form the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations for marketing the produce to maximize the income.
Dr. Arun Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bihar; Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone - IV, Patna and Dr. Ram Prasad Sahani, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar were among the Guests of Honor during the valedictory ceremony.
Dr. R.C. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar stated about the Fair’s Theme - “Entrepreneurship Development through Monetization of Agricultural Waste” that was based on the different technologies developed by the University. The Sukhet Model, an ideal technology related to the Fair’s Theme was mentioned by Dr. Srivastava. The importance of the Regional Agriculture Fair and the way it is transforming the Agricultural activities in the Villages with the help of Universities and ICAR Institutes were outlined by him.
Earlier, inaugurating the Fair, Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, Ludhiana, Punjab underlined the importance of the Regional Agriculture Fair for the farmers’ benefits. He also encouraged the farmers for Maize Cultivation, especially, for the Maize Seed Production which will enable the farmers to earn more income.
Dr. P.P. Srivastava, Registrar and Dr. K.M. Singh, Dean, PGCA also expressed their views about the Fair’s importance for the farmers’ benefits.
During the exhibition, the stalls of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and I.F.S. Model, Vertical Gardening and Water Harvesting Structure, etc., highlighted the different farmers’-friendly technologies being used in the various parts of the country to empower the farmers for their livelihood.
