A seminar on “Application of Drone Technology in Agriculture” was organized on 21th January 2023 as a part of the 3rd India Agri Process Expo 2023 at Ludhiana Exhibition Centre, Sahnewal.
The Chief Guest, Dr. H. K. Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, CSKHPKV, Palampur saluted the spirit and contribution of farmers of Punjab during his address. He recalled the growth of agriculture since independence and hoped for an even better future for Indian agriculture with the latest technology application. He spoke about different technologies that can be adopted by small and marginal farmers. He urged the researchers and farmers to work on inclusive technologies and adaptation strategies with respect to changing climate and agricultural scenario.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET briefed about wider scope of drones in various domains of agriculture. He emphasized the importance of high-tech and low-cost solutions in the Indian farming context. He urged the farmers to revisit agriculture with respect to current post-harvest losses and possible technological answers.
Earlier, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana stressed Government initiatives to popularize unmanned vehicles i.e. drones in agriculture.
The exhibition was attended by more than 5000 participants including Government officials, researchers, students, Officials of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, machine manufacturers, and farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
