ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, hosted the Sixth Bi-monthly Structured Meet of NABARD Goa Regional Office (RO) and an Interaction with Scientists on 18th March 2025. The event was attended by 30 participants, including Scientists, Subject Matter Specialists (SMS), Technical Officers, and nine NABARD officials (GM/OIC, DGM, four AGMs, and three Assistant Managers) from the Goa Regional Office.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, welcomed the guests and appreciated the continued support received from NABARD for undertaking research projects of the Institute for the benefit of farmers. He also suggested potential areas for future collaborations, including upscaling Integrated Farming System (IFS) models, enhancing vegetable production in Goa, and promoting agro-ecotourism.
Shri. Sandeep Dharkar, GM/OIC of NABARD Goa RO, appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CCARI, Goa, and emphasized NABARD's commitment to further strengthening collaborations between the two organizations. He assured that NABARD is ready to support the Institute in implementing impactful interventions for the state of Goa.
Shri. Vishwas Kadam, DGM of NABARD Goa RO, highlighted NABARD's ongoing collaboration with ICAR institutes to support research projects aimed at benefiting the farming community. Earlier, Dr. Gopal Mahajan, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) & Coordinator, PME Cell, presented the overview and achievements of the Institute.
Interactions were held on scope for future collaborations in several key areas, such as value chain development for agricultural commodities (including GI-tagged produces), entrepreneurship development, promotion of local indigenous vegetables, Goa-centric projects addressing local issues, enhancing the supply of quality planting materials through the establishment of mother blocks.
Field visits were held to Coconut-based IFS/Natural Farming Unit, Lowland rice and cowpea fields, Aquaculture Experimental units, Jalopachar plant and biogas unit, animal sciences research units (Dairy, Piggery and Poultry) and fodder cafeteria. During these visits, NABARD officials were sensitized about the latest research developments and they interacted with scientists to explore avenues for future collaborations. Dr. Shripad Bhat, Senior Scientist (Agril. Economics) coordinated the program with the technical assistance from Ms. Pranjali Wadekar, Senior Technical Officer (Computer) and Hall arrangement from Mr. Nitin Naik, Skilled Support Staff.
