ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai organised a 5-day skill development programme on ‘Aquafeed Production Technology and Feeding Management for Freshwater Aquaculture’ from 4th-8th March 2024 for the 25 selected progressive fish farmers from 8 regions of Jharkhand who had newly established feed mills and engaged in fish farming activities over the years.
Dr. N. P. Sahu, Joint Director, ICAR-CIFE, highlighted the importance of local ingredients in pelleted feed preparation and feed-based aquaculture. He acknowledged the Department of Fisheries, Jharkhand for deputing their progressive farmers for this important training programme and wished the present training would surely enhance their knowledge and understanding of fish nutrition and aqua feed.
Dr. K.N. Mohanta, Head, Fish Nutrition, Biochemistry and Physiology Division, emphasised the nutrient requirements of commercially important fishes & feeding management in Biofloc and RAS culture systems.
Dr. Ravishankar C.N. Director & Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai, was also present during the programme.
The fish feed production technology, feed testing, and quality assurance were demonstrated to the trainees apart from 14 theory and 12 practical classes. A training manual in Hindi language was also released on this occasion.
