Skill development training on Banana fiber-based handicrafts organised

A 10-day skill development training on ‘manufacturing of banana fiber-based handicrafts’ was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, today.

Dr T. Damodaran, Director, ICAR–CISH, highlighted the importance of banana fiber-based handicrafts in the national and international markets.

Dr L. K. Nayak, Head, Transfer of Technology Division, ICAR – NINFET, spoke about the extraction, processing, and product development from the banana fiber.

Dr Vishambar Dayal, Scientist & Nodal Officer, SCSP coordinated the programme.

Twenty participants associated with banana cultivation and craft manufacture attended the training programme.
