A 3-day skill development training programme on Freshwater Pearl Culture Technology was organized at, Nagaon, Assam today for fish farmers of Assam in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Assam. Representatives from various districts of Assam were present during the programme.
Farmers were trained in pearl culture techniques, nuclear beads preparation, freshwater mussel physiology, anatomy, harvesting, value addition, and marketing. They learned about fishcam pearl culture for income generation and pond preparation and management. Hands-on practicals were conducted, and they were encouraged to generate more income through fishcam pearl culture.
Participants from the Department of Fisheries, Nagaon, Assam and resource persons were present during the valedictory programme. The farmers were provided certificates, a manual and a pH kit during the programme.
A total of 25 farmers were benefitted from this training programme.
