The ICAR Sponsored short course on “Agri-preneurship Development in Seed Sector for Sustainability of Agriculture & Rural Economy” was inaugurated today at ICAR- Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal.


Dr. Major Singh, Member (Crop Science), ASRB, in his inaugural address spoke about entrepreneurship and the process of selection in ASRB. He urged to learn and spread entrepreneurship skills in the seed sector to provide quality seeds to farmers.
He released the training manual “Agri-preneurship Development in Seed Sector for Rural Employment”. Dr. Singh also visited the research farm of ICAR-IIWBR and appreciated the infrastructure facilities, systematic experiments, and achievements made so far.
Dr. Gyanendra Singh, Director, ICAR-IIWBR briefed about the recent achievements of the institute. He emphasized upon dissemination of newly released varieties of the institute which covers about 45 percent of the total area in the country. He also briefed about the innovative seed system developed by the institute that has contributed a lot to reach every nook and corner of the country.
The course was attended by 25 participants from SAUs, ICAR institutes and KVKs covering 10 states.
