ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organised a 1-day Training-cum-Distribution and Farmers interaction meeting under Schedule Caste Sub Plan in collaboration with KVK, ICAR-CIFA, Khordha, Odisha, today
Dr. S.S. Giri, Director (I/C), ICAR-CIFA acknowledged the efforts of ICAR-CCARI, Goa towards the empowerment of farm women for livelihood security and income generation through the use of agricultural implements distributed during the programme.
Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware, Section in-charge, Animal and Fisheries Science, briefed about the activities of CCARI and highlighted the importance of livestock farming as a source of additional income for the farmers.
Dr. A.K. Dash, Retd. In-charge Head, KVK, coordinated with women farmers in SHGs to distribute agricultural implements to 10 villages in Khordha, Odisha. The implements included a Power weeder, rice mill, multiple paddy thresher, cum winnower, pulveriser machine, gravy machine, and Badi nugget-making frame, benefiting over 110 women members.
Dr. Harapriya Nayak, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, ICAR-CIFA, briefed about the training-cum-distribution programme.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, was also present in the programme.
A total of 62 participants including 54 women farmers from 10 Self-Help Groups of Balipatna and Jatani blocks of Khordha district, Odisha attended the programme.
