A training-cum-workshop on "Scientific Aquaculture Practices” for Scheduled Caste farmers of Puri and Kandhamal District (31st October -2nd November, 2022) organized by ICAR - Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kausalyaganga at its Kausalyaganga campus was inaugurated today. This training programme was organized as a part of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) Programme of ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar.


In the inaugural session, Dr S K Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar urged the farmers to engage in scientific practice fish farming. He also urged for dissemination of important scientific aquaculture technologies developed by the Institute.
Dr H K De, Principal Scientist and Chairman of SCSP scheme emphasized on the transfer of the scientific knowledge for the overall development of SC people.
Dr. K. N. Mohanta, Principal Scientist, FNPD, stressed on the integrated farming. He also discussed about the prospect of fish feed preparation using locally available ingredients and regular feeding for better productivity.
Dr Satya Narayan Sethi, Principal Scientist and Nodal officer for Odisha state SCSP scheme presented the overview of the training-cum workshop.
During the training the participants visited the various farm facilities of the ICAR-CIFA. They also visited the KVK-Khordha to get the practical exposure on Mushroom Farming and Integrated Fish farming.
Around 25 SC farmers from both Puri and Kandhamal districts attended the training-cum-workshop programme.
