Training program on Smart Textiles and its Evaluation under the SCSP scheme

18th -20th March 2024, Mumbai

ICAR-Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai, organized a 3-day training on ‘Smart Textiles and its Evaluation’ from 18th - 20th March 2024 under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan scheme of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. This was a specialized training program conducted for scheduled caste community candidates in particular to upgrade their skill and expertise in Smart textiles.

Dr. Sujeet Kumar Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT Mumbai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest during the valedictory session.

The training program focused on the development of smart textile products, conductive yarns, 3D printers, core spinning, cone winding, composites, and sensors. Topics covered included the introduction of smart textiles, testing of basic electronic components, high-performance fibers, core spinning, DREF spinning, cone winding, composite development using conductive materials, Arduino sensors, phase change materials, 3D printing, smart textile product development, 3D printing software for prototype modeling, application of smart textiles in agriculture, and incubation activities at ICAR-CIRCOT.

A total of 13 participants including 3 male and 10 female candidates from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, and Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, attended the training programme.
