ICAR-National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture (ICAR-NIRCA) organized Turmeric Stakeholder Conclave today at ICAR-NIRCA, Rajahmundry. The event brought together farmers from major turmeric-producing regions viz., Lambasingi, Paderu, Ravulapalem, Duggirala, and Peravali in Andhra Pradesh along with Farmer Producer Organizations, producer associations, women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, NGOs, and Industry leaders.
Dr. M. Sheshu Madhav, Director, ICAR-NIRCA, presented a bold vision to scale turmeric exports aiming to significantly enhance farmers' income and establish NIRCA as the premier technical partner to the National Turmeric Board (NTB). In line with this vision, a strategic roadmap was unveiled to guide the sector’s growth.
Dr. Raji Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, KLSTHU, emphasized the selection of high-quality turmeric varieties for successful cultivation.

Shri Palle Ganga Reddy, NTB Chairman, stressed the importance of value addition to boost export potential.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi emphasized the critical need for improving soil health to support sustainable turmeric cultivation.
Padma Shri Awardee Shri Y. Venkateswara Rao, Chairman, Rythu Nestham Foundation, advocated for organic turmeric farming.
Dr. Ch. Radhika Rani, Director, National Rural Livelihoods and Management Resource Centre (NRLMRC), NIRDPR, highlighted the challenges of labour in turmeric farming.
The conclave also showcased a range of innovative value-added turmeric products and diverse turmeric varieties.
