Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare visited ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar today for a review Meeting.
The Chief Guest, Shri Choudhary interacted with the farm women groups at ICAR-CIWA and urged the farm women to formulate SHGs/FPOs. He also encouraged them to join the existing SHGs to take up the agri-business and avail the benefits through various government schemes and programmes. The Minister suggested ICAR-CIWA organize a MEGA fair involving women FPOs, Industries, and other stakeholders for the development of women’s entrepreneurship and enhancing the business and marketing opportunities. In addition, he highlighted the magnitude of leisure time utilization by women towards the upgradation of agri-enterprise in crops as well as the livestock sectors.
On this occasion, an arrangement was also made to showcase various activities of Women Self Help Groups / FPOs which was extremely appreciated by the Hon'ble Minister. He interacted with the staff of the institute, farm women, women entrepreneurs, SHG members and FPO members immersed in the field of agriculture through the institute’s activity
The Guest of Honour, Dr Bimlesh Mann, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR highlighted the uniqueness and importance of the institute in the country in the empowerment of farm women
At the outset, Dr. Mridula Devi, Director, ICAR-CIWA, in her welcome address, narrated the role played by ICAR-CIWA in the empowerment of farm women through its research, training, and extension activities.
About 250 participants participated in this programme.
