Virtual In-Plant Training Programme on “Processing and Quality Assurance in Fisheries” for the B.F.Sc. Students

The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin, Kerala has started a one-month Virtual In-Plant Training Programme on “Processing and Quality Assurance in Fisheries” for the B.F.Sc. Students of the College of Fisheries, Dholi, Bihar from today.
In his inaugural address, Dr. R.C. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Pusa, Bihar lauded the ICAR-CIFT’s accomplishments for its pioneering work in strengthening the fishery export of the country through its innovative harvest, post-harvest technologies and quality management techniques. Highlighting the importance of agro-processing for developing Start-Ups and entrepreneurship in agriculture, he showed keen interest to ink a Memorandum of Understanding with the ICAR-CIFT, Cochin for collaborative research and capacity building programmes in fish processing.
In his address, Dr. Ravishankar C.N., Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin, Kerala urged the students to aim for the “Job Providers” instead of “Job Seekers” by exploring some innovations in the field and utilizing the cutting edge technologies developed by the research organizations.
The training programme has been formulated adding the major features of the fish processing, quality assurance, fisheries technology, engineering and social sciences with the objective to impart the comprehensive knowledge related to the different aspects of the post-harvest technologies in fish and fishery products.
