The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh organized a “Review Workshop of NARI (Nutri-Sensitive Agricultural Resources and Innovation) Project” from 7th to 8th April, 2021.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR stressed on creating awareness for right nutrition. Dr. Singh emphasized on making the women aware about right nutrition through women-centric programmes. Accentuating on the climate change as one of the most important factors affecting health, the DDG urged for establishing atleast one Nutri-Garden in every Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Dr. Singh suggested the KVKs to train around 100 Anganwadi Workers and develop them as master trainers. He also opined for identifying 10 Anganwadi Centres for developing the Nutri-Gardens through Anganwadi Workers. The DDG stressed on identifying the nutrient deficiency in soil, water and animals, etc., in the District. He urged for documentation of NARI Project to depict the visibility of the work done in the designated direction at the national level.
Dr. Atar Singh, Director ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur outlined the importance of NARI Project to eliminate malnutrition in the country. He urged the KVKs to demonstrate fortified varieties of crops and new technologies and apprise the local women about the products grown in the Nutri-Garden for round the year availability of vegetables & fruits.
More than 100 KVK Heads & Home Scientists of all KVKs attended the workshop.
