The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur - II, Rajasthan organized the “Virtual Zonal Review Meeting of Farmers’ FIRST Programme” on the theme of “Integrating Technologies and enriching knowledge” today.
In his address, Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on the involving the ICAR’s Research Institutes and State Agricultural Universities selected under the Farmers’ FIRST Programme as a part of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Scheme. Dr. Chahal stressed on involving the farmers’ families as active partners in research mode, that is, technologies selection, assessment and application for improving the livelihood security by following approaches in a sustainable way.
Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur, Rajasthan briefed about the objectives and concepts of the FFP being implemented, especially, Farmers’ FIRST Programme in a holistic manner, in participatory and convergence mode in the country. He also emphasized that the Government of India’s initiative of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022 has also to be realized by the partners implementing FFP.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities participated in the meeting.
A total of 30 Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators of FFP from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan States participated in the Virtual Zonal Review Meeting.
