ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal, organised a 21-day ‘Vocational training on empowering youth to strengthen seed sector’ from 13th February- 4th March 2024.
The Chief Guest, Dr. RK Yadav, Director, ICAR- Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, urged participants to improve wheat and barley seed production.
Dr. Gyanendra Singh, Director, ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal, urged the participants to develop entrepreneurship skills in the seed sector.
Dr. B. Mishra, Former Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST, Jammu, and Former Director, DRR and DWR, Karnal, was also present in the valedictory session.
The 21-day training programme, organized by ICAR institutes, BEDF, and APEDA, focused on seed technology. Experts from these institutes shared their expertise on quality seed production and business opportunities. Exhibit visits were organized to seed companies like Onkar Seeds, Prabhat Seeds, and Khalsa Seeds, Karnal.
A total of 20 participants from agricultural institutes of various states attended the programme.
