ICAR- National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, RC Kolkata, organised a 2-day workshop-cum-capacity building programme on ‘Integrated Farming System: A sustainable way for profitable farming in water stress region’ under the SCSP project in collaboration with West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Corporation -KVK, Sonamukhi, Bankura to mark the celebration of National Science Day 2024.
Dr. N J Maitra, Deputy Director, Research, Extension & Farms, WBUAFS, Kolkata, and Scientists, NBSS&LUP, ATARI Kolkata was also present at the event.
Dr. S. Chattaraj, Nodal officer, SCSP project emphasised the initiative by ICAR in implementing lab-to-land technology transfer to farmers with a Government scheme.
Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head Regional Centre, Kolkata, highlighted the importance of the SCSP project in reaching out to small and marginal farmers. He said that an integrated farming system needs to be carried out which is one of the best options for farmers’ income from agriculture and allied sectors.
A total of 80 participants including 30 farmers belonging to the scheduled caste category from the Bankura district participated and interacted with the scientists on agro-technological interventions through the adoption of soil soil-based integrated farming system approach.
