ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar organized the XIIth annual review meeting of the Network project of National Centre for Veterinary Type Cultures here today.
The meeting was chaired by Dr B.N. Tripathi, Hon’ble DDG (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi and co-chaired by Dr Ashok Kumar, ADG (AH), ICAR in presence of Dr Jyoti Misri, Principal Scientist, ICAR Head Quarter.
Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) applauded NCVTC for the commendable research work carried out by the Centre and the recent achievements namely the development of LSD vaccine, animal corona vaccine (Ancovax), diagnostics etc. He urged on fasttracking of genomic characterization of microbes, their use and the development of technologies for the benefits of the farmers, industry and stakeholders.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG (AH), ICAR emphasized on digitization of meta-data of all collected cultures/microbes and clones for easy, quick and safe access of the microbes and clones.
Dr T.K. Bhattacharya, Director, ICAR-NRCE and Project Coordinator briefed the NCVTC overview, functioning and overall achievements of the network project.
Dr. Jyoti Misri, Principal Scientist, Animal Science Division, ICAR emphasized expanding the foot-print of network covering the whole country to obtain unique microbes.
The meeting reviewed the progress of 2021-22, during which a total of 314 microbes comprising bacteria, viruses, and bacteriophage of veterinary, rumen and dairy origin were accessioned in NCVTC repository
The meeting was attended by partner units of the Network of Veterinary microbes (7 units), rumen microbes (6 units) and dairy microbes (3 units), who presented their research progress and achievements during 2021-22.
