3rd International Conference on Aquatic Animal Epidemiology

The "3rd International Conference on Aquatic Animal Epidemiology", under the auspices of the International Society of Aquatic Animal Epidemiology, was inaugurated at ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow today.

The conference organised by the ICAR in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and Aquatic Biodiversity Conservation Society (ABCS), represents a milestone in the collective journey towards understanding and managing aquatic animal health.

Dr. Kenton L. Morgan, Former Emeritus Professor of Epidemiology, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; was the Chief Guest of the event.

Guest of Honours, Dr. Edgar Brun, Director, Dept. of Aquatic Animal Health and Welfare, Norwegian Veterinary Institute, Norway; Dr. Iddya Karunasagar, Rtd. Senior Fisheries Officer, FAO & FAO Reference Center for AMR and Aquaculture Biosecurity, Nitte University, Mangalore, Esteemed officials from the International Society of Aquatic Animal Epidemiology, ICAR, NFDB, ABCS, and partners from fisheries research institutes and universities, Keynote & Lead Speakers, more than 250 distinguished delegates, officials from various departments, fishers & fish-farmers, and researchers were part of the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR, was the Convener, AquaEpi III of the event.

Dr. Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR & Co-Convener of the conference emphasised the importance of the conference and the initiatives of ICAR-NBFGR in this line.

Directors of ICAR institutes ICAR-IISR, ICAR-CIFRI, and ICAR-CIFA were also present at the event.

Dr. P.K. Pradhan, Principal Scientist & Head, Exotics and Aquatic Animal Health Division, ICAR-NBFGR & Organizing Secretary rendered the vote of thanks.
