ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal, has developed a roadmap to promote barley across India. IIWBR and KVK Bajaura, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh jointly organised an awareness program on barley under the SCSP program at KVK Bajaura today. The KVK also presented an exhibition about the most recent innovations created for the farmers of Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Randhir Singh, former Assistant Director General (Extension), Principal Investigator (Social Sciences), IIWBR, informed the farmers about initiatives taken by the institute to promote barley and availability of seed at the institute and other AICRP Centres. He also talked about the KISAN SARATHI APP developed by the ICAR.
Dr. Devina Vaidya, Associate Director, RRS-Dr YSPUHF, Bajaura, presented the initiatives taken by the centre to diversify agriculture with horticultural crops.
Dr. Chandrakanta, Head, KVK Bajaura, educated the farmers about various programs including soil and water testing, seed, and planting material, climate-resilient technologies, tribal sub-plans, residue management, etc.
Dr. Satyavir Singh, Nodal Officer, SCSP program, briefed about the objectives of the SCSP program.
The Scheduled caste farmers were provided the seed of HBL 713 free of cost.
A total of 115 women and 85 men participated in the programme.
