A Brainstorming Session on biotic stress management in oilseed crops is organized by ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur in association with ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, Hyderabad at ICAR-NIBSM today.
Dr. P.K. Ghosh informed that the biotic stresses are a major factor in the low productivity of oilseeds in the country and up to 40 per cent of losses are due to insect pests, diseases and weeds. He highlighted the importance of increasing oilseed production in India and the need for the development of farmer-friendly climate-resilient technologies in oilseeds with enhanced productivity.
Dr. R. K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, emphasized the importance of brainstorming for developing a roadmap for research and development in the area of biotic stress management in oilseed crops.
Important researchable issues were discussed by which concept notes will be developed and collaborative research work will be initiated.
Joint Directors and scientists of ICAR-NIBSM, ICAR-IIOR and IGKV actively participated.
