CAU, Imphal Regional Agri Fair 2023-24 inaugurated

Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri La. Ganesan inaugurated Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur Regional Agri Fair here today.
The Governor called the farmers ‘Anna data’ and acclaimed their role in providing food security to the world.

Taking into account the rich Bio resources that the North-east offers, he stressed the importance of exploring alternative food sources and urged that CAU should lead in preparing a food atlas of North East Region focusing on Alternative food sources.

The governor also congratulated CAU for starting a course on Natural Farming.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri TR Zeliang emphasised tapping into the potential of Agricultural resources of the North-East Region to make the region and the country self-reliant.

Shri Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, accentuated on the role of Agripreneurs in transforming the Agricultural Landscape of NE Region.

Earlier, Dr. Anupam Mishra Vice-Chancellor. Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal, in his keynote address, briefed the theme of the Agri fair and said that the fair aims to attract farmers as well as young minds and motivate them for Agripreneurship.

Carrying the theme “North East India Farmers conclave: Igniting Agri Revolution (Connecting Agri-preneurs to Circular Economy)”, the event promises to become a vital platform for knowledge exchange, industry collaboration, and making FPO/FBOs a growth engine in the northeastern region (NER) for igniting the Agri Revolution, said a release.

The Inaugural function was attended by Senior officials of Agricultural Universities & KVKs, officials of Line Departments, eminent experts, scientists across the country.
