DAFW, MoA &FW, and NRM Division of ICAR organise an interface meeting.

An interface meeting between the Natural Resource Management Division of ICAR and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare was held at NRM Division of ICAR, KAB-II, New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (NRM) and Dr. Yogita Rana, Joint Secretary (INM), DAFW, MoFW&A represented DAFW.

The interface was organized to share the research, education, and extension activities of ICAR institutes related to soil health, natural and organic farming, and Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern region (MOVCD-NER) programs.

Dr. Chaudhari briefly highlighted the importance of the interface meeting in view of national priorities vis-à-vis changing world order and the role of ICAR-NRM division and INM (Integrated Nutrient Management) section, DAFW, MoFW&A for mutual cooperation by funding, sharing the information and required interface discussion from time to time.

Dr. Rana appreciated the efforts of ICAR in generating the data and package of practices for natural and organic farming, capacity building and demonstrations on natural farming, and developing the curriculum for UG and PG courses. She stressed the need to interact from time to time to discuss and share information for strengthening the research, education, and capacity building in natural farming by generating quality data.

Dr. A Velmurugan, Assistant Director General (Soil & Water Management) apprised the objective of the meeting.

Dr. R.R. Burman, Assistant Director General (Extension) shared and discussed the activities related to demonstrations on natural farming, capacity building, etc.

Dr. S.K. Sharma, Assistant Director General (HRM) apprised that ICAR has already finalized the UG and PG courses in natural farming for adoption by SAUs, CAUs, and deemed Universities.

Dr. Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (AAFCC) also shared his viewpoints for further strengthening the co-operation between ICAR and DA&FW.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director, ICAR – IIFSR, Modipuram shared the publications and research results on natural and organic farming.
