Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) inaugurated five facilities of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda, viz., the administrative building, Farmers Hostel, Carp & Catfish Hatchery Facility, Integrated livestock Unit and Integrated Fish development unit today. He applauded about the significance and role played by the KVKs in the livelihood improvement of the farming community. Dr. Pathak also distributed various inputs among the farmers.
Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata briefed that KVKs are gearing up in Amrit Kaal to serve as a change catalyst and convergence hub for Indian agriculture to link Farm-Farmer-Farming on an agro-ecosystem scale.
The ceremony was attended by Swami Biswamayananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Sargachhi, Murshidabad; Dr. V.B. Patel, Assistant Director General (Horticulture & Plantation crops), ICAR; Dr. T. Damodaran, Director, ICAR-CISH Lucknow; Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-IIAB, Ranchi; Dr S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru; Dr. Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR Lucknow; Dr. Shailendra Rajan former Director CISH Lucknow; Dr D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata; Dr. P. Chakraborty, former Member of ASRB; Dr. P. Pal, former Director NRC on Pomegranate, Sholapur.
A Kissan Sammelan was organized and more than 600 farmers attended this program. On this occasion, the three best farmers were facilitated for their contribution to the adoption and dissemination of ICAR technology in the Malda district.
