Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, today. In his speech, He appreciated the research achievements of the Institute and appealed to scientists to work on and formulate innovative research to address the multifaceted challenges of the coastal region in a multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary mode. Dr. Pathak emphasised newer initiatives undertaken by ICAR, such as corpus funds and CSR funding, for supporting research and development activities and promoting public-private-industry partnerships.
Dr. S. K. Chaudhari, Deputy Director General, ICAR, briefed the institute's transition from a research complex to a national institute, highlighting its efforts to address challenges and achieve broadened mandates, and suggesting collaborative research to expand its reach to the entire coastal region.
Dr. Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (AAF&CC), ICAR, stressed the responsibility of the Institute to cater to the research and development needs.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, accentuated the achievements of the institute.
The dignitaries visited the agro-ecotourism unit and appreciated the innovative idea of promoting the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) to promote agro-ecotourism. They also visited ongoing civil works and the central instrumentation facility (CIF).
