To mark a sign of respect for the father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi, the Government of India initiated the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to be observed by every citizen across the country. To contribute towards the Government’s aim and vision of a cleaner country, the people have also shown their sincerity and have been following the government’s directions in keeping their surroundings and roads clean.
The ICAR Institutes organized a wide array of different programmes to observe the Swachhata Pakhwada organized from 16th to 31st December, 2020.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Head Quarters, New Delhi
Citing the example of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) administered the Swachhata Pledge of the ICAR Institutes across the country to achieve the targets of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan today.

The Deputy Directors General, Assistant Directors General, Senior Officials, Scientists of ICAR, Directors of ICAR Institutes and other staff members took the Swachhata Pledge.
ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, New Delhi
Dr. Satendra Kumar Singh, Project Director, ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, New Delhi took the Swachhata Pledge to hold the target of maintaining cleanliness as one of the important tasks.

The Senior Officials along with other staff members also consented to abide by the rules to keep the campus and their surrounding areas neat and clean.
ICAR-Central Institute of Arid Horticulture, Bikaner, Rajasthan
Administering the Swachhata Pledge, Dr. P.L. Saroj, Director of the Institute highlighted the importance of cleanliness in a person’s live. The Director also outlined the various activities and programmes to be organized during the Swachhata Pakhwada. Dr. Saroj urged the staff members to participate with full zeal.
The occasion also marked the plantation drive by the Institute’s senior officials and staff members.
ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director of the Institute stressed on the importance of cleanliness programme implemented by the Government of India. He urged the wholehearted involvement of all the employees of the institute to keep the premises clean.
