ICAR-CIBA, Chennai inks MoU with Alliance Insurance, Mumbai

The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Alliance Insurance, Mumbai for providing advisory consultancy services to the company on shrimp farming.

Outlining the scenario of shrimp production, Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai emphasized on the need for formulating an insurance policy product, especially, for the small scale shrimp farmers. He emphasized that with the renewed targets set under the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Mathsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the alliance between the Institute and the Alliance Insurance, Mumbai would pave way for enhancing the aquaculture productivity, enhance productions and benefit the aquafarmers in the country.

Shri C.A. Srinivasan, Vice-President, Corporate Solutions Group applauded the Institute for providing support in formulating the insurance, which helps the shrimp farmers to bear the crop loss. Shri Srinivasan also stressed that the Alliance Insurance would formulate an insurance policy soon for shrimp farmers, taking the inputs from the Institute.
