ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar organizes “Parthenium Awareness Week”

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized the “Parthenium Awareness Week” from 16th to 22nd August, 2020.

The weeds popularly known as congress grass, carrot weed and gajar ghas were highlighted for their adverse effect causing various diseases like skin allergy, hay fever and breathing problems in human beings and animals besides, reducing the agricultural productivity loss of biodiversity among the field workers and women farmers.

The Institute also organized the different activities for Parthenium like uprooting in the campus during the week under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Programme.

The awareness on the harmful effects of the Parthenium and urgency along with the methodology of its removal was also demonstrated to the farmers during the occasion.
