The ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Barrackpore, Kolkata and ICAR-CRIJAF-Krishi Vigyan Kendras, North 24-Parganas (Additional) and Burdwan organized the Farmers’ Fair and Awareness Programme to celebrate the “Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari” Campaign on 26th and 28th April, 2022.
The Programme was aimed at sensitizing the farmers about the Natural and Organic Farming, Bio-Fortified Crop Varieties, Oilseeds and Millets along with the special role of these Crops in the economic and nutritional security of the farming community.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, Barrackpore urged the farmers for updating themselves to practice the Natural Farming for the restoration and conservation of the soil and water. He emphasized on profitable agriculture to retain the farmers in the profession for enabling the young generation to adopt agriculture as a venture of self-employment.
Shri Tapas Kumar Das, Deputy Project Director, ATMA, North 24-Parganas was also present during the programme.
The Institute also organized the Awareness Programme for the farmers in the different Villages of North 24-Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly, West Bengal.
A total of 772 farmers, Senior Officials of the Institute and KVK participated in the Programmes.
