A training programme (17-28 October, 2016) on "ISO-22000-HACCP for Seafood Industry" was inaugurated at ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin today.

Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and said it deals with the standards, principles and practices to be followed in fish processing and export industries to guarantee the food safety and assuring quality that is free from physical & chemical hazards and economic fraud.
The training programme is sponsored by ITEC, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India under Technical Cooperation Scheme (TCS) for imparting comprehensive and integrated training to the participants of the member countries of Colombo plan to enhance their administration and technical capabilities. .
Four foreign participants Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan attended the programme.
