Training Programme on “Techniques and Hygienic Practices in Slaughtering and Meat Handling” organized

The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi & Division of Animal & Fisheries Sciences (DAFS), ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hill Region, Meghalaya organized the one-day Training Programme on “Techniques and Hygienic Practices in Slaughtering and Meat Handling” for the Meat Handlers here today.

The programme was organized under the Scheduled Tribe Component (STC previously Tribal Sub Plan) of the ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hill Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.

The participants were provided with the “Meat Hygiene Kit” containing 16 items which would help them for maintaining the hygiene at their slaughter points, meat selling outlets and also safeguard themselves from getting infected with the Zoonotic Diseases.

A total of 25 Meat Handlers from Ri-Bhoi District participated in the programme.
