The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore, Madhya Pradesh organized the “Virtual Scientists’-Farmers’-Interactive Session” for the Soya Farmers today. The Session was jointly organized in association with the Atma Project, Department of Agriculture, District Indore, Solidaridad Bhopal and ITC Limited, Madhya Pradesh.


Dr. D. Billore, Director-in-Charge, ICAR-IISR, Indore said that this Year, the sowing has been done for a long time, due to which the problems of pest and diseases receive congenial environment for longer period to persist.
Dr. B.U. Dupare, Principal Scientist (Agriculture Extension), ICAR-IISR, Indore highlighted the importance of the expected incidence and different insects over a longer period on the account of the various planting dates favoring more life cycles resulting in yield losses and increased cost.
Dr. R.K. Verma, Scientist (Agronomy), ICAR-IISR, Indore discussed about the various ways of managing the weeds including the recommended herbicides to be applied after 15 to 20 days of sowing for weed management. He suggested the use of Imazthapyr @ 1 Litre / Ha and Imazethapyr+Imazamax 100 Gm / Ha for the control of broad and narrow leaf weeds
More than 2,000 Soya growers from the major Soybean growing States like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan attended the event.
