An eight-day training programme on “Production and value addition in jute fibre through manufacture of diversified products” sponsored by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Katihar, Bihar was inaugurated at ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata.

Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director highlighted the various innovative technologies developed by the Institute and its importance in getting quality fibre as well as production of value added products. He also emphasised upon the collaboration of ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata and ATAMA, Katihar, Bihar for betterment of stakeholders associated with jute production & processing.
Dr. A.N. Roy, Head, TOT Division briefed the trainees about the market demand of jute goods & entrepreneurship development opportunities in this sector.
Shi S.K. Jha, Deputy Project Director, ATMA, Katihar, Bihar has spoken about the scope of value addition & product diversification in jute growing areas of Katihar District.
Thirty (30) progressive jute farmers of Katihar District, Bihar associated with jute crafts work have participated in this handholding training.
