ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Rani, Guwahati in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority organized a sensitization workshop on ‘Enhancing commercial pig production in NE India with focus on export prospects’ here today.


The focus was on creation of an ecosystem that not only enables the different stakeholders to interact each other but also to tap into the vast market opportunities presented by the domestic as well as export markets.
The progamme was graced by the presence of Dr. V.K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-NRCP along with Shri. Bitupan Neog, ADC, Sivasagar and Dr. A.K. Keshri, DVO, Sivasagar.
The participants reiterated the need for commercializing the piggery sector with scientific practices to tap the domestic demand and the export markets in Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, China and South East Asian countries.
The programme was organized at Sivasagar district, Assam and was attended by over 100 participants, mostly commercial pig farmers.
